BLUEMONT VINEYARDS – BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS, VA

Today was a great day! I attended Christmas concert a “The Worship Center”, Woodbridge, VA. The concert brought tears to my eyes when gospel singer Martha Munizzi sang Broken Chains. My son surprised me with a visit and attended the concert. God was in the Worship Center this Sunday morning. JUST AWESOME!

I’m feeling the spirit!! I’m fixing dinner while listening to the Redskins. YES, I’M A REDSKIN FAN AND I’M PROUD OF IT! 🙂

The Skins versus Browns game is on the radio. Mama feels good; it’s time for a glass of wine. Some may say, “You been making up for the 2 weeks dry spell”. YUPPER! Last night, cuddled up in front of the fireplace, The Professional and I enjoyed some delicious Layer Cake Zinfandel. (See wine review) If I recall correctly, the first time I tasted Layer Cake Zin, I used the word “orgasmic”. 🙂 Hey, sometimes a wine has that kind of effect on you.

This glorious Sunday, I select a bottle of Bluemont Vineyard 2010 Meritage. I don’t remember the wine, but I remember the Vineyard’s breath-taking view. I don’t know why I just sniff the bottle, ICK! In case you’re wondering Atlanta is kicking the Giants butt, 34- ZIPPY! The Redskins is winning 38-21; just in case you were wondering. 🙂

Ok, let’s begin this tasting, deep ink-like color. While writing, I’m being greeted with grapey and spicy aromas and my nose is approximately 10inches from the glass. Swirl- to open up the wine and the aromas are vibrant. Sniff – spicy, black cherry aromas; taste – DA… (I almost cursed) 😉 full bodied fruit-forward with black cherry flavors. Soft tannins that lightly linger on the palate then “poof” it’s gone. This wine starts off BIG then it says, “Okay that’s enough, bye”.

Bluemont Vineyard 2010 Meritage is a great buy! It must have been delicious since I purchased three bottles. You know my motto; always buy in batches of three. The first bottle is so you can immediately recapture the experience when first tasted the wine, the second bottle is to share with a friend and the third bottle is to lie down-especially if you’re trying to create a cellar.

The tasting room is located at 951 feet and provides its customers a panoramic view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.
