My Tetris Room

Impulses are good… sometimes.

Who purchases furniture without ensuring it will fit in a space? 🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️ YUPPER!

excuse the typo in the word “family”

Boy oh Boy, what a morning!

The one time I act on impulse and not measure and re-measure my living space for at least a couple days, I end up with busted walls and broken ceiling light.

I did not care; I love this sectional and I will make it work. The look on the movers face was “Are you for real?” Reading his mind, I said, “I’m not returning it, I want it”. He immediately pulled out a “no liability” form for me to sign. I signed it and the movers went to work squeezing the furniture down the staircase into my family room. Honestly, if they tilted forward the sofa, which was the biggest and longest piece of the sectional, my daughter and I both believe the wall and light fixture would be intact. At the moment, I did not care. I will admit, I felt bad for the delivery guys, they worked hard trying to get the furniture into the space. So, I gave a nice tip and said lunch is on me.

Whew, there is a lot going on…

First, Rawcliff (sectional’s name) fits nice and tight in his new home. So tight, if you want to sit on his plush cushions you have “rollover”, unless you are a size “0”.  Even then you will probably have to do some shimmying. 🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️🤦🏾‍♀️ Major blooper, blunder… SCREW UP!

Since I couldn’t create the large L-shape, I separated the pieces, which resulted in a “raw edge” being exposed. So, I covered the non-upholstered side of the sectional with a throw.

Secondly,  the rug which is MAGNIFICENT was purchased from Wayfair and from Farah’s “Inspire Me! Home Decor furniture line. I selected rug to highlight the curtains pattern. I know the curtains should be close to the ceiling to bring more height. However, I was not aware of this design tip years ago. It is too late to raise the curtains because the curtains were cut too short; so they will have to remain.

my too short curtains

Thirdly, the sectional is so large that I cannot fit a decent size coffee table in the space.  My girls will be stuck with C end tables or decorated tray tables that they can move around. The space also need ottomans for friends to rest their feet. Right now, I have my eye on Wayfair’s Castillo C End table and Aloysius Folding Tray Table in chrome. I just do not like that $200 price tag on the folding tray tables.

Lastly, due to Covid, my daughter works from home. She used a long folding table as a workspace. Well, she no longer has space for a table and now work on a lap desk and small end table. 🤦🏾‍♀️ She is so good that she did not complain; the situation just bothers me.  Hmm… the wheels are turning, I may have a solution. I need to be careful because I envision these great ideas and when it comes to execution, the outcome falls flat. But, I’m optimistic! 😬 I’ll let you know how it turns out. 😋

As soon as Home Goods and Home Sense get in more of the silver pillows, I will be swapping out the dark pillows that came with sectional.

All-in-All, I love my “Tetris Room” and having fun putting on the final touches. This is what it is all about, folks, “Doing What Brings You Joy!
